Evcia EV charging installations for guest accommodation businesses

Download our guest accommodation business ev charging facility implementation guide

Guest accommodation providers can steal a march on competitors by increasing the attractiveness of their properties by providing EV charging.

Having EV chargepoints at their accommodation site is a primary concern among EV owners when selecting accommodation. Last year alone, 220,000+ electric car owners chose hotels with charging facilities over those without. Providing electric charge points not only increases occupancy rates, it also provides a new stream of revenue generation for accommodation businesses.

Increased occupancy rates

There are not enough charge points at hotels and other guest accommodation locations to meet current demand.

Guests from cities and urban areas are proportionally more likely to be EV users and expect similar facilities at guest accommodation. Having charging facilities will increase your occupancy rates.

Charging for profit

Although faster chargers are available, for overnight stay accommodation slower 7kW home chargers are appropriate as guests will usually want to charge overnight and will not benefit from faster charging times.

Evcia chargepoints come with full management meaning  accommodation providers can seamlessly charge guests for charging, typically generating £20-£25 per day in charger fees and earning up to £10,000 a year for each chargepoint.

Not only are chargepoint significant earners, grants are available to cover some of the capital cost and an installation will typically have a lifespan of 15-20 years…

Early installers of EV chargers are recognising the importance of EV charge points to attract more guests and generate revenue and are already installing additional chargepoints.

Power cost reduction, not just for your chargepoint but for your entire premises

All our installations come with a free electricity tariff check to check you are not overpaying for electricity. We may also be able to switch you onto an especially beneficial rate for all your energy use once your chargepoint is installed.

Installations

Typically an installation will include:

  • free charging for your own vehicles (your car, minibus, service vehicles);
  • reduced cost charging for staff (with graded rates if required);
  • charging-for profit for visitors and public charging areas

You will be able to vary your tariff using our desktop chargepoint management suite. Charge payments can be made by free app, tag or keyring. We offer a free 24/7 helpdesk to support you and to answer any questions your users have.

Evcia EV charging for fuel stations and roadside services.

We offer both:

Fast Charging with 50-150 kW DC chargers. This type of charger fully charges an EV in the span of 0,5 to 2 hours. However our recommended. This makes it perfect for locations like restaurants, retail and grocery stores.

Ultra-fast charging with 150-600 kW DC chargers. Charging with an ultra-fast charger takes only up to 30 minutes which makes it the right choice for on-the-go charging with time for a quick cup of coffee or a meal and before continuing their trip.

Ultra fast (HPC) charging is a premium service for EV drivers so that you can set a higher charging price as the charging point operator (CPO). An HPC station offers 2-3 times the throughput compared to a regular fast charging station. This translates into 2-3 times higher revenues during high-demand peak hours.

HPC stations offer significant time savings compared to standard AC chargers. In optimal conditions, your customers can recharge their EVs as quickly as 15 minutes.

The shorter the charging time, the more electric vehicles can be charged on one charger. While on a standard AC charger, one charging session can take up to 8 hours, approximately 16 charging sessions can take place during the same time period on an HPC station.

Where to install…

Good locations are high-traffic areas like transportation hubs and locations along motorways. Placing HPC stations in these locations is essential in easing the range anxiety many drivers have when deciding if to switch from an ICE to EV.

Petrol stations that need to accommodate the new customer segment of EV drivers, who want to charge their cars as conveniently as they would refuel an ICE car.

Although HPC stations are significantly more expensive than standard charging stations, higher utilisation and profit margins in the rapidly growing EV market significantly shorten the payback period.

Evcia will provide you with suitable hardware and take care of the whole installation process on your behalf. As part of the Evcia network, you become part of one of the largest charging networks in Europe, which includes over 350,000 charging points thanks to roaming. We also put you and your company on the map for over 800,000 EV drivers to find your charging stations with just a few clicks.

Our chargepoint installations for business parks cover both the parks and individual buildings within the parks.

With EVCIA’s professional management group, schemes will be revenue generating and have a lifespan of 15-20 years. Commercial installations enable business park tenants to charge at work and offer considerable savings on public charging. They may be used for fleet vehicles, employees own vehicles, visitors to the site and public charging.

All Evcia jobs come with a free electricity tariff check to ensure you are not overpaying for electricity. We may also be able to switch you onto an especially beneficial rate for all your energy use once your chargepoint is installed.

  • subsidised or lower cost charging for tenants (with graded rates if required);
  • charging-for profit for visitors.

It is possible to restrict charging to tenants preventing public availability.

Not only are chargepoint significant earners, grants are available to cover some of the capital cost and an installation will typically have a lifespan of 15-20 years…

You will be able to vary your tariff using our desktop chargepoint management suite. Charge payments can be made by free app, tag or keyring. We offer a free 24/7 helpdesk to support you and to answer any questions your users have.

Survey

Prior to installation we will conduct an extensive site survey free of charge to discuss the most beneficial options for you and your users. Optimal layouts will be agreed with you at the time the survey is conducted. Our surveyors will work with you to obtain maximum benefits for the least cost.

Funding

Evcia offers a choice of Owned by you, Leased and Evcia Owned and Managed Options. In the latter case it is possible that we can provide your charge park entirely free of up-front capital expenditure.

Government Grants: up to 75% of the cost

The government workplace charging scheme (WCS) can be applied to your venue.

The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints (inclusive of VAT), capped at a maximum of £350 per socket for 40 sockets across all sites owned by the applicant.

An installation grant  can also cover up to 75% of the cost of installing the infrastructure needed for chargepoints to operate and for future chargepoints to be installed, as well as the cost of any chargepoints installed. There is a limit of £15,000 per grant.

Our grants team will enable you to maximise grant eligibility for your school and college, both for your immediate installation and for further future installations as demand for EV chargepoints increases.

Evcia EV charging installations for shops and retail parks

Download our Shops and Retail Parks EV Chargepoint Facility Guide

Our chargepoint installations for shops and retail parks cover both the parks and individual shops.

With EVCIA’s professional management group, schemes will be revenue generating and have a lifespan of 15-20 years. Commercial installations enable shops and retail park tenants to charge at work and offer considerable savings on public charging. They may be used for fleet vehicles, employees own vehicles, visitors to the site and for the public.

All Evcia jobs come with a free electricity tariff check to ensure you are not overpaying for electricity. We may also be able to switch you onto an especially beneficial rate for all your energy use once your chargepoint is installed.

Typically an installation will include:

  • free charging for the business park owner’s fleet (staff vehicles; service vehicles, vans);
  • subsidised or lower cost charging for tenants (with graded rates if required);
  • charging-for profit for visitors.

Grants of up to £350 are available to cover the cost of buying and installing a chargepoint. A grant is available for each parking space provided with a chargepoint socket, with up to 300 grants available per year per landlord.

If you’re letting out a commercial property and a grant is claimed, the chargepoint grant can only be used to provide services for staff and vehicles. It cannot be used by members of the public.

Infrastructure Grants

Infrastructure grants are not currently available for business park owners, but SME businesses may be able to claim EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets. (see Employers and Businesses section)

Typically Evcia will make your site “installation ready and expansion ready” to maximise your site’s capacity for future installations.

There is a separate and different grant for SMEs called the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS), which does not help towards the cost of chargepoint infrastructure. Both grants may be used for the same site, but not the same chargepoints. If you are using both grants, you must claim for at least one working chargepoint under the EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleets and only use the WCS for chargepoints added at a later date.
